Can you match my existing floor?

Usually close, rarely perfect, and we say which before starting. Species and board width can be matched. Colour is harder, because an existing floor has aged under light and the new wood has not, and a stain that matches in the tin will not match on the board. Where the repair area is small and visible, blending into a doorway or a natural break gives a better result than a rectangular patch in the middle of a room. On a whole-room repair, sanding and refinishing the entire floor afterwards is what makes a patch disappear.
