Terms at a glance
- Every price we give before a site visit is an estimate, not a quote. The written quote that follows the measure is the number that counts, and it is valid for thirty days.
- Booking a date does not guarantee that date. Weather, prior jobs, material lead times and condominium elevator windows all move schedules, and we tell you as soon as one does.
- Sending the form, calling or texting us means you are content for us to reply by the method you used.
- Any workmanship warranty is set out in your written quote, job by job. We do not offer blanket guarantees on this website.

Availability depends on our schedule, material lead times and the condition of the property. We may decline, cancel or reschedule work where a site is unsafe, where access cannot be arranged, where a subfloor or slab condition makes the requested material unsuitable, or where the scope described to us turns out to be materially different from the scope on site. Where we decline for a technical reason, we explain the reason and, where we can, what would need to change.
Flooring is installed in existing buildings, and no contractor can guarantee how a building will behave. Wood moves with humidity, concrete holds moisture, and older structures settle. We control our workmanship and our material selection. We do not control your building.
3. Contact consent
Submitting a form on this site, calling us, texting us or emailing us means you consent to be contacted back about your enquiry by phone, text message or email at the details you provided.

Standard message and data rates may apply to text messages. You can opt out of any contact method, or all of them, at any time by telling us, by replying to a message, or by emailing info@torontoflooringco.ca.
4. Quotes and estimates
Any figure we give you before a site visit is an estimate based on what you have described. Published price ranges on this website are Toronto and Greater Toronto Area market ranges collected from public sources and are provided for orientation. They are not an offer and they are not a quote for your property.
A written quote follows a site visit and is based on measured square footage or linear footage, the subfloor material and joist spacing we find, flatness measured over six and ten feet, moisture readings, access, and any building rules that apply. Unless the quote says otherwise it is valid for thirty days from its date.
- Subfloor or slab conditions that could not be seen before the existing floor came up
- Structural damage, rot or moisture found during removal
- Knob-and-tube or other wiring exposed in a joist bay, which stops work until a licensed electrician has attended
- A change you ask for after the quote is signed
- Material substitution where a specified product becomes unavailable
- Access or building requirements that were not disclosed before the quote
Where we have given you an estimate, Ontario law does not permit us to charge more than ten percent above it unless you authorise the additional work in a signed amendment to the contract. We do not carry out additional chargeable work on a verbal instruction. Every change to an agreed scope is documented in writing and signed by both of us before we act on it.
5. Site assessment and scheduling
Final pricing follows an on-site assessment. That visit is free, carries no call-out fee, and normally takes under an hour. Where the floor sits on a concrete slab, an in-situ relative humidity probe has to be left in the slab for at least twenty-four hours before it can be read, so the quote for a slab job follows the second visit rather than the first.
Scheduling estimates are estimates. Traffic, weather, material lead times, a prior job that ran long, and in a condominium the elevator booking window and permitted working hours can all move a start date. We tell you as soon as we know. Where your building restricts working hours, the schedule reflects those hours rather than a normal working day.
6. Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate information about the property, the rooms and the existing floor
- Provide safe, clear and legal access to the work area for the agreed dates
- Disclose anything you know about past leaks, pest damage, structural repairs or wiring
- Remove or tell us about fragile, valuable or sentimental items before we start
- Keep pets and children clear of the work area while tools, adhesives and finishes are in use
- Where you are in a condominium, obtain board approval and book the service elevator, or ask us to prepare the package on your behalf
- Maintain the indoor conditions the flooring manufacturer requires after installation
If access is not available on an agreed date and we have already mobilised, a return visit may be chargeable.
7. Materials and property
Where we supply material, it remains our property until paid for in full. Where you supply material, we will install it, but we cannot warrant a product we did not select or source, and we will tell you before starting if we believe it is unsuitable for your subfloor, your slab reading or your building's rules.
Wood is a natural material. Grain, colour and figure vary between boards and between production runs, and samples show a representative appearance rather than an exact one. Ordering extra for waste is normal and the allowance is stated on your quote.
We take reasonable care of your property. Some disturbance is unavoidable: sanding produces dust even with dust-extraction equipment, adhesives and finishes have an odour, and removing an old floor can disturb paint, baseboard and door casing. Where removal is likely to damage something that will need making good, we say so in the quote. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, for defects in the structure of the building, or for items left in the work area after we asked for them to be removed.
8. Payment
A deposit is payable when you accept the quote. Our standard deposit is ten percent of the project value, in line with provincial guidance that deposits should not exceed ten percent. The payment schedule, including any progress payment on a larger project, is set out in your contract.
- Accepted payment methods are confirmed at booking and stated on your invoice
- Final payment is due on completion of the work described in the contract, unless the contract says otherwise
- Invoices unpaid past their due date may carry interest at the rate stated on the invoice
- Applicable taxes are shown separately on the quote and the invoice
9. Cancellation and rescheduling
If you signed the contract in your home, it is a direct agreement under Ontario consumer protection law and you may cancel within ten days of receiving the written copy, without penalty and without giving a reason. A refund is due within fifteen days of your cancellation notice. If work began at your request within that period, we may deduct reasonable compensation for non-returnable materials and for labour already supplied.
Outside that statutory window, please give us at least three business days' notice to cancel or reschedule. Deposits are refundable up to the point where material has been ordered to your specification or a crew day has been committed and cannot be refilled. Where a deposit becomes non-refundable, we tell you before it does.
We may reschedule for weather affecting material delivery or acclimation, for an emergency, or where a prior job overruns. We do not charge you for a date we moved.
10. Photographs and testimonials
Any review or testimonial published on this site is real and used with permission. We do not publish invented reviews, invented ratings or invented project counts, and there is no review markup in this website's code that is not backed by a real review.
We may ask to photograph completed work. We ask first, we photograph the floor rather than your belongings, and we do not publish an identifiable address. You can decline and it changes nothing about the job. Any project photography published shows a specific job in a specific building and is not a promise that your floor will look identical.
11. Warranties and limitations
Any workmanship warranty is set out in your written quote, job by job, because a refinish on a thin wear layer and a new installation over a levelled slab cannot honestly carry the same terms. We do not offer open-ended coverage for the life of the floor. Manufacturer warranties on supplied material are the manufacturer's, and we will give you the documentation and the conditions those warranties depend on.
- Normal wear, scratching, denting, fading and traffic patterns
- Damage from water, leaks, appliance failure, flooding or pets
- Movement, gapping, cupping or crowning caused by indoor humidity outside the manufacturer's stated range
- Failure of a material you supplied, or of a product installed against our written advice
- Movement caused by structural settlement, joist deflection or building defects outside the work we carried out
- Damage caused by later work by others, including trades cutting into the floor
Wood flooring manufacturers generally require the indoor environment to stay within a defined humidity range, commonly thirty to fifty percent relative humidity. Toronto's heating season makes that range harder to hold than people expect. Keeping the floor inside it is the owner's responsibility once the job is complete, and we will tell you what your specific product requires.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including loss of use of a room, loss of rent, or costs of alternative accommodation. Our total liability in connection with any service is limited to the amount you paid us for that specific service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for personal injury caused by negligence.
13. Website use and intellectual property

The information on this site, including price ranges, building code references and condominium rules, is general information about flooring in Toronto. It is not legal advice, engineering advice, or a substitute for reading your own condominium's current rules or obtaining a permit where one is required. Regulations change. Where a figure came from a published source at a particular date, we say so on the page.

14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Toronto, Ontario. If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
