Privacy at a glance

We collect your name, phone number, email address and project details only when you give them to us through the quote form, by phone or by email.
We use that information to reply to you, quote your job and carry out the work. We do not sell it and we do not rent it.
This site uses Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. Both set cookies and both can be opted out of. Neither is used to identify you personally.
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing info@torontoflooringco.ca.

This policy explains how we handle personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, known as PIPEDA. It covers this website and the way we handle enquiries that reach us by phone, text message and email.

We collect two kinds of information. The first is information you give us directly. The second is technical information collected automatically when you visit the site.

3. The analytics tools this site uses

Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics 4 tells us how many people visit the site, which pages they read and which search terms brought them here. It sets cookies in your browser and collects a truncated version of your IP address, device and browser information, and the pages you view. We use it to understand which of our service pages are useful and which are not. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, and we have not enabled Google Signals advertising features on this property.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across every site that uses it by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available from tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Microsoft Clarity

Microsoft Clarity records anonymised session data: where people scroll, what they click and where they stop reading. It builds heatmaps and session replays so we can see, for example, that visitors are missing the cost information on a page. Clarity masks text input by default, so what you type into the quote form is not captured in a replay. It sets cookies and collects the same broad categories of technical data as Google Analytics.

You can opt out of Microsoft Clarity by following the instructions on Microsoft's privacy dashboard at privacy.microsoft.com, or by blocking clarity.ms in your browser or an extension.

Cookies generally

Most browsers let you refuse cookies, delete existing ones, or warn you before one is set. Refusing analytics cookies does not stop you using this site or requesting a quote. Some cookies are necessary for the site to work at all, including the security check on the quote form.

To reply to your enquiry and answer your questions
To prepare and send you a written quote
To schedule and carry out the work you have accepted
To order the correct materials in the correct quantity
To prepare a condominium board package where your building requires one
To invoice you and keep the records Ontario requires us to keep
To follow up on a completed job, including asking whether you would leave a review
To improve the website using the analytics described above

We do not use your information for automated decision-making and we do not build advertising profiles from it.

5. Consent

Submitting the quote form, calling us, texting us or emailing us tells us you are content to be contacted back about your enquiry by the method you used and by the contact details you supplied. Standard message and data rates may apply to text messages. You can ask us to stop contacting you by any particular method, or altogether, at any time by replying to a message or emailing info@torontoflooringco.ca.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only in these situations.

With a subcontractor we have engaged for part of your job, such as a licensed electrician on a heated floor, and only the details that trade needs
With your condominium corporation or property manager, where we are submitting a renovation application on your behalf and you have asked us to
With our service providers: website hosting, email, and the analytics tools named above
Where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim

Google and Microsoft process the analytics data described above on their own infrastructure, which may be located outside Canada. While that data is held in another country it is subject to the laws of that country.

7. How long we keep it

We keep quote enquiries that did not become jobs for two years, in case you come back to us. We keep records relating to completed work for seven years, which covers both the tax record-keeping we are required to do and the three-year window in which Ontario requires a business to be able to demonstrate compliance with consumer protection rules. Analytics data is retained according to the default retention settings of Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.

8. How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are encrypted in transit
Access to enquiry and customer records is limited to the people who need it to do the work
Accounts holding customer information are protected by unique passwords and, where available, two-factor authentication
Paper records taken on site are transferred to our system and then destroyed

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If a breach occurred that created a real risk of significant harm to you, we would notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.

9. Your rights

Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it
Ask us to correct anything that is wrong
Ask us to delete information we no longer need for a job or a legal obligation
Withdraw consent to be contacted, subject to any contract already in progress
Complain to us, and then to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are not satisfied

Email info@torontoflooringco.ca or call (365) 360-6356 to exercise any of these. We respond within thirty days. We may need to verify who you are before releasing information.

10. Children

This site is aimed at property owners and managers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

11. Links to other sites

Where we link to another organisation, such as a government page or a standards body, that organisation has its own privacy policy and we are not responsible for it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described rather than quietly edited in.
