Talk to us

Tell us about the floor. We will tell you what it needs.

What can we help with?

So the right crew reviews your project.

Any workmanship warranty is set out in your written quote, job by job.

Who we are

A crew that opens the floor before it prices the floor

Toronto Flooring Co began trading in 2026. We install hardwood, engineered hardwood, vinyl plank, laminate, tile and carpet, we refinish and repair floors worth keeping, and we do the structural work underneath both: subfloor repair and levelling. We work across the six former Toronto municipalities and out into Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Brampton and Oakville. What we do differently is unglamorous. We lift a vent, measure the joist bay, run a straightedge over six and ten feet, meter the subfloor, and on concrete we drill an in-situ humidity probe and leave it a full day. Then we quote.

How we work

Diagnosis before product

Nobody should be choosing a species before knowing whether the deck can carry it. We establish the subfloor first, then tell you which materials are open to you, then talk about looks.

Honest about what we do not know

If a slab reading is borderline, we say so and re-test. If a repair might not colour-match, we say so before starting. A flooring contractor who is never uncertain is a flooring contractor who is not testing anything.

Paperwork you can check

Before you pay anything, ask us for the WSIB clearance number and the certificate of insurance. Validate the clearance yourself on the WSIB site. Then read the contract. That is a better test than any review.

What we do not claim

We are new. A new company that pretends otherwise is telling you something about how it will behave on your floor.

No invented years in business

We started in 2026 and we say so. Any experience we describe belongs to the people doing the work and is stated as theirs, separately from the age of the company.

No project counts and no star ratings

There is no invented customer tally on this site and no review markup in the code. Both would be fabrications today, and fabricated review markup is a manual-action risk as well as a lie.

No guarantees in the marketing

Every floor, subfloor and building is different, so every warranty is set job by job. Any workmanship warranty you get from us is written into your quote for that specific job, not promised on a web page.

No licence we do not hold

Ontario has no flooring-trade licence, so nobody in this province is a licensed flooring contractor. When we hold a certification we will name it and produce it.

Our Process

What working with us looks like

1

You describe the floor

A phone call or the form. Room, building type, what the floor is doing and what you want instead.

2

We measure

Under an hour on site with a moisture meter, a concrete probe kit, two straightedges and a light for the joist bay.

3

You get it in writing

Scope, materials, price, schedule with start and completion dates, subcontractors if any, and the warranty for that job.

4

We do the work

Prep, install, trim, clean, walkthrough. Any change to the agreed scope is signed before we act on it.

Why we lead with method instead of history

Most flooring pages in this city open with a number of years and a count of happy customers. We cannot do that truthfully, so we have built the business around the thing that predicts whether your floor lasts: what happens in the first hour on site.

That hour has a fixed shape. Identify the subfloor material and the joist spacing, because the Ontario Building Code sets minimum deck thickness against that spacing and manufacturer warranties frequently ask for more than the Code minimum. Check flatness over six feet and ten feet, because a glue-down floor needs a flatter substrate than a nail-down floor and the difference decides whether levelling is in the quote. Meter the wood, because the National Wood Flooring Association asks for the new material to sit within four percent of a wood subfloor for strip and within two percent for plank. On concrete, drill an in-situ relative humidity probe to depth and leave it at least twenty-four hours, because that is the test flooring manufacturers accept as evidence and a surface meter reading is not it.

The Toronto part of the job

Wood here lives through a long dry heating season and a genuinely muggy stretch from mid-June to late September. Pearson records roughly 4,066 heating degree days below eighteen degrees on the 1981 to 2010 climate normals. A five-inch red oak plank moves around nine hundredths of an inch across a thirty percent humidity swing, which sounds like nothing until you lay ten of them across a room. Expansion gaps, acclimation and, for wide plank, a humidifier are not upsells. They are the difference between a floor that stays flat and a February full of gaps.

What we ask of you

Tell us what the floor is doing, not just what you want. Gaps in winter, a soft patch near the dishwasher, a squeak that moved, a cupped board by a radiator: those are diagnoses waiting to happen, and they change what we recommend. If you are in a condo, send us the corporation’s current flooring rules rather than the copy in your status certificate, because rules can change on thirty days’ notice and the current version is the one your board will hold you to.

About us, honestly

How long have you been in business?

Toronto Flooring Co started trading in 2026. We will not dress that up. What you can check instead of company age is the documentation: a WSIB clearance number you can validate yourself, a certificate of commercial general liability insurance, and a written contract containing the nine items Ontario requires. Ask for all three before you pay a deposit, from us or from anybody else.

Are you insured?

Ask us for the current certificate and read the coverage and the expiry date rather than taking a web page's word for it. We deliberately do not print an insurance claim on this site until the certificate is in your hands, because fully insured is the single most commonly overstated line in this trade. There is a related trap worth knowing: a renovation business paid directly by homeowners can be legitimately exempt from compulsory WSIB coverage, so WSIB compliant and WSIB covered are different statements. Ask which one applies and who covers the crew.

Do you use subcontractors?

Where a job needs a licensed trade we do not hold, yes, and the contract names them. Electrical work on a heated floor goes to a licensed electrician, and if we open a pre-1945 floor and find knob-and-tube wiring in the joist bays we stop and bring one in rather than closing the floor over it. Ontario requires a renovation contract to identify subcontractors and say who pays them, and ours does.

What is your warranty?

It is written into each quote rather than promised here, because a warranty that means anything has to match the job. A refinish on a floor with a thin wear layer and a new install over a levelled slab cannot honestly carry the same terms. What we will say in general is that we do not offer open-ended coverage. A company that opened this year offering coverage for the rest of your life is offering you a sentence, not a remedy.

Ask us the hard questions first

Clearance number, insurance certificate, contract. Then the floor. We would rather have that conversation before the quote than after the invoice.
